An apartment set in an iconic heritage listed building in Melbourne’s inner west, Potters House was a project that was very close to our hearts. The small footprint of the home needed to work hard to make every inch count, so function was key. Our brief was concise: clever storage solutions at the forefront of the design, whilst still prioritising the importance of simple yet bold aesthetics, and an eye-catching injection of colour.

The overall space was minimal but certainly not bland. Layering of colours, finishes and patterns, with a soft peach feature that was distinctive, yet not overpowering, allowed for just enough visual stimulation in a small space. Adopting differing colours and joinery profiles, the kitchen was storage dense whilst still being proportionate to the connecting spaces. Japanese lantern style pendants added an organic softness to the refined joinery, also complementing the purposeful asymmetry of the design.

It was integral to repeat features, while still creating a unique feel in each room. Minimal furniture, an illusion of more floor space, both soft and dramatic colour, vertical lines emphasising high ceilings, ambient light. The entire apartment was a cosy, inviting sanctuary nestled amongst the leafy streets of Seddon.
