A 1960’s brick veneer home with an eclectic mix of statement artwork, shelves upon shelves of classic books and iconic music records, and many unique collected display items. The kitchen needed to be a mid-century inspired space that complimented the rest of the home instead of battled with it, while still incorporating all the modern conveniences. Our brief was simple: a new kitchen that didn’t quite look “shiny and new”.

A light-filled kitchen with pastel coloured cabinetry and dark coloured stone benchtops. The timber shelving above the benchtop has pastel coloured display items.
A light-filled kitchen with white and pastel coloured cabinetry and timber accents. The benchtop is dark coloured stone and the floor is cork. The splashback tiles are white subway shaped with pale grey grout.

The overall result is a playfully fun space with a few retro inspired features like green, yellow and blue pastel doors in select locations, traditional cork flooring, framing cabinets with timber look surrounds and classic subway tiles. The kitchen is well laid out, easy to move around in, and has all the conveniences a new kitchen requires. But most importantly, it aesthetically fits the rest of the home like a glove. The kitchen became a wonderful representation of our clients’ unique and fun personalities.
