In the quiet tree-lined streets of Yarraville, this Victorian double-fronted dwelling was home to a very special family who liked music and motorcycles, favoured industrial styling, and were not afraid to incorporate dark shades on mass. Striking black features infused drama, and various textured materials injected a sense of stripped back, raw architecture. Even the feline Queen of the house had a designated space she could call her own.

The industrial style was accomplished using minimal un-fussy details, purposeful alignment, and refined joinery. Tactile surfaces such as a honed concrete benchtop, textured tiles and ultra-matte cabinets, ensuring that the quantity of materials and colours were kept to a minimum. The feature splashback tile fit the theme, yet added some warmth to what could have been a very dark monochrome palette.
Repeated features from laundry through to bathroom gave an impression of it being a continuous space, separated only by the large wire mesh glass steel door. A custom floating vanity, cleverly hidden cabinet in the tiled wall and private walk-in shower accurately fit the theme.
